"Modern" Boxing takes place on a boxing ring over the clouds, with eyed hills and Stars visible in the backround.

In single player mode the player controls Luigi and has to face three opponents, one after the other: Wiggler, a Big Boo, using a boo to attack instead of its punches, and lastly Waluigi. In two players mode player 1 always controls Luigi and player 2 always controls Waluigi. The characters' energy is represented by hearts on top of the screen.

The number of victories is indicated under the energy bar with up to four Coins, then a Yoshi Coin indicates five victories, a trophy indicates ten victories and a Championship Belt with a star on it indicates fifty victories.
