During the eleventh episode of season eight of Mystery Science Theater 3000, that's about a movie titled Parts: The Clonus Horror, as a scientist sporting a big mustache is shown, () Mike calls him "Doctor Super Mario Brother" and in later scenes involving him, the characters repeately make Mario jokes. Specifically in a scene where the scientists sedate a clone, as "Doctor Mario" walks offscreen, Tom briefly hums the Super Mario Bros. overworld theme. Then, as another scientist approaches, Crows dubs him saying: "Doctor Luigi, please assist me here." Then, in the same scene, as "Doctor Mario" receives a close-up, Tom can be heard humming the first notes of the Super Mario Bros. underground theme. Later, as "Doctor Mario" refuses to follow his superior's orders and walks away, Tom says "go eat a mushroom Mario!" and finally, after "Doctor Mario" is seen talking at the phone, Tom once again hums the Super Mario Bros. underground theme.
