Super Princess Peach is a platformer game that stars Princess Peach, the damsel in distress from the Mario series, and the hero Mario, with their roles swapped, as well as the main villain Bowser, supporting characters Luigi, Toad and overall takes place in the same universe as Mario games, thus being a spin-off of the Mario series. Since it's so closely related to Mario games, it's sometimes even considered an actual part of the Mario series, rather than a game on its own.

The level design is mostly based on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, thus creating a connection to the Yoshi series too.

In this game Peach has the ability to float and to pick up enemies, referencing her abilities in her playable appearance in Super Mario 2 (USA), however the floating ability is given here by her umbrella, Parry, rather than by her skirt, much like her "Peach Parasol" move from Super Smash Bros. Melee. She also gains totally new abilities based on her "Vibes".

SPP GooperBlooper

The game features very few original enemies (the only ones are Walruss, Starfish, and bosses Hoo and Blizzaurus), with most of them coming from previous Mario games.
Included are classic recurring Mario enemies Goomba, Paragoomba, Koopa Troopa, Paratroopa, Lakitu, Spiny, Hammer Bro., with the original variant Army Hammer Bro. as a sub-boss, Piranha Plant, Pokey, Cheep-Cheep, Blooper, Boo, Dry Bones, Podoboo, Twomp, Bullet Bill, Bob-Omb, Chain Chomp, and Wiggler as a boss.
Also included are enemies previously featured in Yoshi's Island Nipper Plant (originally from Super Mario World), Big Boo (originally from Super Mario World), Kaboomba (here called Cannon), Big Chain Chomp, based the Shark Chomp, Fang and Raven.
But there even are some minor enemies, from Super Mario Bros. 3: Spike and Ptooie, and from Super Mario World: Spike Top, Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro., Volcano Lotus (here called Volcano Plant), Blurp, Urchin, Fishin' Boo, Li'l Sparky, Hothead, Torpedo Ted, Para-Bomb and Rex.
Petey Piranha (here called Boss P. Plant) and Gooper Blooper from Super Mario Sunshine are also included as bosses.

SPP Koopalings

Many enemies, however, come in original variants, based on the game's four "vibes", that also give Peach special abilities (for example there are the Mad Goomba, the Sad Goomba, the Glad Koopa Troopa and the Calm Lakitu).

Additionally, unusued sprites for Bowser's sons, the Koopalings from Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World have been found in the game's code, indicating that were originally planned to be in the game, but were later scrapped.
