The second Eggsteroid is a homage to Level 1-1 of Super Mario Bros., with rocks acting as Question Blocks and wood acting as Brick Blocks. The upper "Question Block" contains a pig which moves in a similar manner to the Super Mushrooms. Unlike the original game, the ground is also made of breakable blocks.

The creators of Angry Birds Space held no right over Nintendo's Mario, but they only included a minor reference to the series.
