Need for Speed: Most Wanted U
March 19, 2013
The Wii U version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted features three green pipes looking like Warp Pipes from the Mario series, found in hard to reach points around the city. By parking a car on top of a pipe, and then clicking the left control stick, causes the car to be lowered inside it, taking the player to one of three secret rooms with text on the wall reading either "Level 1-1," "Level 2-1," or "Level 3-1", and in each one of them the player can find a Mario-themed car, not found anywhere else in the game. Revealing each of the rooms unlocks three special license plates. The car is parked in the middle of five parking spaces, each one with a sign on the wall in front of it reading "Reserved for" followed by the name of a developer of the game. Also while the three empty spaces are numbered, the one with the Mario car is not, and instead has an 8-bit symbol on the wall, that identificates the car. These rooms also feature green pipes, yellow pipes serving as exits, and a big question mark in 8-bit style on the floor. Each room has three exits, each one leading to a different point in the city. More specifically:
- "Level 1-1" features an Ariel Atom 500 V8 in red with blue trim, the colors of Mario, and its symbol is a question mark.
- "Level 2-1" features a Caterham Superlight R500 colored pink with white stripes, Princess Peach's colors and its symbol is a crown.
- "Level 3-1" features a BAC Mono colored light green, Yoshi's color, and its symbol is an egg.
To be released on the Nintendo Wii U, Need for Speed: Most Wanted U was licensed by Nintendo, so the creators could also include references to the Mario series.
