Mother, often referred to as EarthBound outside Japan, is an RPG video game series by Nintendo taking place in a modern-day western setting.
Each game in the series is a different story, with some recurring elements.
Only three original games have been released:
- Mother (27 july 1989), Famicom. Initially released in Japan, its international release was originally cancelled before being released in North America and Europe as EarthBound Beginnings on the Wii U Virtual Console on June 14, 2015.
- Mother 2 (27 august 1994), Super Famicom/SNES. Known outside Japan as EarthBound. Re-released in 2013 for Wii U Virtual Console and in 2016 for New 3DS Virtual Console.
- Mother 3 (20 april 2006), Game Boy Advance. Only released in Japan. Originally it was created as a Nintendo 64 game and would have been internationally released as EarthBound 64.
Also a compilation called Mother 1 + 2 has been released on 20 June 2003 only in Japan for the Game Boy Advance, and it includes the first two games in the series.
In this wiki the games in the series are always called with their original Japanese title because are better distinguishable by their number.
