NES Remix includes challenges based on The Legend of Zelda, some in their own category and some in "remixed" version.

These are specifically:

The Legend of Zelda[]

The seventh set of NES game challenges, unlocked after obtaining 100 Stars at games, it features 17 stages:

NESR Zelda 01
  • Stage 1: Divided in 5 sections, all set in the overworld. The first section starts at the beginning of the game, and the objective is to enter the cave, highlighted by a circle, and then get the wooden sword. The second section is set in the screen east to starting one, featuring four Octorocks and the objective is to defeat them all. The third section is set at the east Fairy Fountain, Link starts with only one heart and the objective is to approach the fairy to be healed. The fourth section starts in the screen north-west to the starting one, with Link already entering the cave, and starting with 200 Rupees; the objective is to buy any of the items for sale at the shop and the in-game instructions read "Buy somethin' will ya!" quoting the shopkeeper in the game. The fifth section starts in the screen east to the Level 1 entrance, with an arrow pointing to the left and the objective is to enter the dungeon. Time limit: 100s overall.
NESR Zelda 02
  • Stage 2: Divided in 3 sections, all set in Level 1. The first section is set in the room right to the entrance and the objective is to get the key. The second section is set in the room left to the entrance and the objective is to get the key without taking damage. The third section is set in the northmost room, and the objective is to get the key without taking damage.
NESR Zelda 03
  • Stage 3: Starting at the shop north-west to the starting point, Link starts with 55 Rupees and 4 bombs and the objective is to buy any item from the shop (so the player is required to collect at least 5 Rupees). The Rupee amount and the cheapest item, the candle, are initially highlithed by circles. Time limit: 300s.
NESR Zelda 04
  • Stage 4: Divided in 3 sections, all set in Level 1 in rooms with no enemies. The first section is set in the room with the access to the Old Man's room, and the objective is to open the door by pushing the block. The second section is set in the room north to the breakable wall and the objective is to go through the passage by breaking it; the wall and Link's bombs are highlithed by circles and Link starts with 4 bombs. The third section is set in the room with the stairs and the objective is to go down the stairs.
NESR Zelda 05
  • Stage 5: Set at the fight with Aquamentus in Level 1, the objective is to collect the first Triforce Shard without taking damage.
NESR Zelda 06
  • Stage 6: Divided in 3 sections, the first one is set at the left to the entrance to Level 8, with Link only armed with arrows, initially highlighted by a circle and the objective is to defeat all enemies that are at the right side of the screen. The second section is set in Level 2, precisely in the room where the Compass is found, with Link only armed with the boomerang, initially highlighted by a circle, and the objective is to defeat all enemies without taking damage. The third section is set in Level 2, in a room full of Keese with Link only armed with eight bombs, initially highlighted by a circle, and the objective is to defeat all enemies without taking damage.
NESR Zelda 07
  • Stage 7: Divided in 5 sections, each set in a screen with a hidden passage and Link starting with either 8 bombs or the candle, and the objective is to find the hidden passage and go in. The first section is set in the screen west to the starting point, the second in the screen north to the starting point, the third in the screen north-east to the starting point, with link already shooting fire at the right tree and the the player only has to go in, the fourth is set in the screen east to the starting point, and the fifth one is set in the screen north-east to Level 1 and after going in the player also has to get the Rupees inside. fourth Time limit: 240s overall.
NESR Zelda 08
  • Stage 8: Set at the fight with Dodongo with 4 Hearts and 3 bombs, the objective is to defeat it.
NESR Zelda 09
  • Stage 9: Divided in 3 sections, the objective in each one is to defeat all enemies without taking damage. The first section is set in Level 2 in a room full of Ropes and Link starts with 8 bombs and 6 hearts. The second section is set in the screen west to the eastmost peninsula and Link starts with 4 bombs and 6 hearts. The third section is set in the south eastern screen of the graveyard (so the player has to find the real Ghini out of many) and Link starts with the boomerang, Magical Sword, Blue Ring equipped and 14 hearts.
NESR Zelda 10
  • Stage 10: Divided in 6 sections, Link starts with 7 hearts in the first four sections, while he starts with 9 hearts in the last two sections. The first section starts after the defeat of Dodongo and the objective is to get the second Triforce Shard. The second section is set in the screen with the cave of the White Sword and the objective is to get the sword. The third section is set in Level 3, in the room with the staircase, and the objective is to get the raft. The fourth section is set at the fight with Manhandla in Level 3 and the objective is to get the third Triforce Shard. The fifth section starts in the screen south to Level 4 and the objective is to enter the dungeon. The sixth section is set at the fight with Gleeok in Level 4 and the objective is to get the fourth Triforce Shard.
NESR Zelda 11
  • Stage 11: Divided in 3 sections, all taking place in dark rooms in Level 4 with Link already possessing the stepladder boomerang and 8 bombs, but without the candle and starting with 8 hearts and the objective in each one is to defeat all enemies without taking damage. The first section is set in the room where the map is found, the second in the room where a key is guarded by Zols and the third one in a room full of Vires.
NESR Zelda 12
  • Stage 12: Starting in the screen east to the starting one, with Link having 3 hearts missing and the objective is to restore all health without taking damage. Time limit: 300s.
NESR Zelda 13
  • Stage 13: Divided in two sections, they respectively start in the screen where the cave of the Blue Ring is found and in the room in Level 9 where the staircase to the Red Ring is found, and the objective is to get the respective ring. Link starts with 255 Rupees and 8 hearts in the first section and with 16 hearts and Blue Ring equipped in the second section.
NESR Zelda 14
  • Stage 14: Divided in 3 sections, they all start at the fight with a powerful enemy and the objective is to defeat it. The first section is set at the fight against Moldorm in Level 2, the second one is set at the fight with two Blue Lanmolas in Level 9 and the third one is set at the fight with Patra in Level 9. Link starts with 5 hearts in the first section and with 16 hearts in the other two.
NESR Zelda 15
  • Stage 15: Divided in 6 sections, Link starts with 12 hearts in each one of them except the last, where he has 13 hearts:
    • Stage 15-1: Set in the graveyard, precisely where the Magical Sword is found, the objective is to get the sword, and the tombstone to push is initially highlithed by a circle. Link weilds the Magical Sword in each later section.
    • Stage 15-2: Set at the bottom of the waterfall, which is highlighted by a circle, the objective is to get a hint from the old lady inside the cave behind the waterfall.
    • Stage 15-3: Starting again at the bottom of the waterfall, the objective is to enter Level 5.
    • Stage 15-4: Set in the room in Level 5 where the recorder is found, the objective is to get the item. In this and later sections Link has the Blue Ring equipped.
    • Stage 15-5: Set at the fight with Digdogger, the objective is to collect the fifth Triforce Shard.
    • Stage 15-6: Set at the fight with Gohma, the objective is to collect the sixth Triforce Shard.
NESR Zelda 16
  • Stage 16: Set in Level 3, starting at the central room, where Zols are, the objective is to get to the boss room. Link starts with 8 bombs and has 8 hearts. Time limit: 300s.
NESR Zelda 17-6
  • Stage 17: Divided in 6 sections, Link starts with 14 hearts in the first one and has 15 in the second and third ones and has 16 in the next ones, while he's equipped with the Blue Ring in the first three sections and he has the Red Ring in the next three:
    • Stage 17-1: Set at the fight with Aquamentus in Level 7, the objective is to collect the seventh Triforce Shard.
    • Stage 17-2: Set at the entrance to Level 8, the objective is to enter the dungeon.
    • Stage 17-3: Set at the fight with Aquamentus in Level 8, the objective is to collect the eighth Triforce Shard.
    • Stage 17-4: Set at Spectacle Rock, the objective is to enter Level 9.
    • Stage 17-5: Set in the room in Level 9 where the Silver Arrows are found, the objective is to get them.
    • Stage 17-6: Set at the fight with Ganon, the objective is to defeat him and rescue Zelda. After saving her, her message is shown, and the player-entered name is revealed to be "Link".

Remix II[]

"Remix II" includes 2 challenges based on The Legend of Zelda, each one unlocked by obtaining a specific amount of stars, and both following the same formula, consisting in two sections, the first based on The Legend of Zelda while the second is based on Donkey Kong (see here for details), but still featuring Link as the player's character. This also creates an undirect link between the Donkey Kong and the Zelda series. The Zelda section in both stages takes place in a screen with a cave, called "mysterious passageway" in the instructions, and the objective is to enter it while the screen goes out of focus. The stages are:

  • Stage 1 (155 Stars): The Zelda section is set in the screen west to Spectacle Rock.
  • Stage 20 (265 Stars): The Zelda section is set in the screen east to where the Power Bracelet is found.

Bonus[]

The "Bonus" set includes 3 challenges based on The Legend of Zelda, each one unlocked by obtaining a specific amount of stars. They all are regular NES challenges:

NESR Bonus 02
  • Stage 2 (320 Stars): Divided in 4 sections, all based on the Second Quest. The first section is set at the entrance to Level 2 and the objective is to enter the dungeon. The second section starts in Level 2, in the room north to the hidden one, and the objective is to go through the secret passageway, highlighted by a circle. The third section is set in Level 4, in the room where the Old MAn asks to leave life or money and the objective is to leave a heart and go to the next room. The fourth section is set in Level 1, in the room full of Stalfos and the objective is to defeat them all.
NESR Bonus 17-1
  • Stage 17 (470 Stars): Divided in 4 sections, the first one is set at the fight with Gohma in Level 8, and the objective is to defeat it, but Link only has one arrow. He starts with the Magical Sword and Blue Ring equipped and has 15 hearts. The next sections are based on Super Mario Bros. and Tennis.
NESR Bonus 18
  • Stage 18 (480 Stars): Set at the fight with Manhandla in Level 3 during a swordless run, the objective is to defeat it by using a bomb, but Link is only equipped with one and starts with only 3 hearts out of six.

NES Remix includes challenges based on Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, some in their own category and some in "remixed" version.

Zelda 2 - The Adventure of Link[]

The ninth set of NES game challenges, unlocked after obtaining 110 Stars at games, it features 10 stages:

NESR2 Zelda2 01
  • Stage 1: Divided in 4 sections, the first one starts at the beginning of the game and the objective is to leave the palace, the second one is set in a sidescrolling desert area with rocks attacking and the objective is to block three of them, the third one is set in a grass area with some Bits and Bots, and the objective is to defeat three of them, the fourth one is set in a forest area including a treasure bag worth 50 Experience Points, with Link's experience starting at 48/50 and the objective is to level up.
NESR2 Zelda2 02
  • Stage 2: Divided in 2 sections, the first one is set in a desert area and the objective is to defeat a Geldarm without taking damage, the second one is set in the Tantari Desert cave and the objective is to collect the trophy.
NESR2 Zelda2 03
  • Stage 3: Starting at the entrance of Parapa Palace, the objective is to collect the first key in it.
NESR2 Zelda2 04
  • Stage 4: Set in Parapa Palace, the objective is to defeat an Iron Knuckle.
NESR2 Zelda2 05
  • Stage 5: Set at the fight against Horsehead in Parapa Palace, with Link having activated the Shield Spell, the objective is to defeat him.
NESR2 Zelda2 06
  • Stage 6: Divided in 3 sections, the first one is set in Mido Town, starting on the Churc's roof, and the objective is talk with the Swordsman who lives inside, the second one starting after receiving the Down Thrust, and the objective is to perform the move, the third one is set at fight against Rebonack in the Island Palace, with Link having activated the Shield Spell, and the objective is to knock him off his horse.
NESR2 Zelda2 07
  • Stage 7: Starting at pathway to Darunia Town, the objective is to enter the town after passing the two enemy areas, with Link starting with little health.
NESR2 Zelda2 08
  • Stage 8: Divided in 2 sections, both set in Maze Island Palace, the objective in the first one is to defeat two Wizards by reflecting their magic at them, while in the second one is to defeat the boss Carock.
NESR2 Zelda2 09
  • Stage 9: Divided in 3 sections, the first one is set in a forest area with a fairy and the objective is to touch it to recover life points, the other two are both set in the Island palace, specifically the second one is set in the room full of lava with Link turned into a Fairy and the objective is get to the exit, the third one is set at the fight against Volvagia and the objective is to defeat it.
NESR2 Zelda2 10
  • Stage 10: Divided in 4 sections, all set in the Great Palace, the first one starts at the entrance with Link's experience points at 8960/9000 and the objective is to level up, the second one is set at the dissolving bridge with the passageway beneath it and the objective is to drop inside, the last two are set at the fights against the palace's bosses, respectively Thunderbird and Shadow Link, with Link having activated the Shield Spell and the boss only having respectively one life point left and two life points left, and the objective is to defeat them. After winning it, the game's ending cutscene is shown.

Remix II[]

"Remix II" includes 4 challenges based on Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, each one unlocked by obtaining a specific amount of stars:

NESR2 Remix2 06
  • Stage 6 (165 Stars): a crossover stage with the player controlling Link, and featuring the palace theme from Zelda 2, the enviroment is made of blocks from underground sections of Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels which actually just work like breakable blocks, and the objective is to collect all 10 coins in it. Time limit: 50s.
NESR2 Remix2 10-4
  • Stage 10 (195 Stars): Divided in 4 sections, the first three are based respectively on Super Mario Bros. 3, Punch-Out!! and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, while Stage 10-4 is based on Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, with the player controlling Link, but the enviroment is made of Blocks from the Mario series, with a Hammer Bro. as the enemy and the objective is to defeat it, while there also are four large Boos from Super Mario Bros. 3 attacking Link from behind. The stage is basically just a reskin of the fight against the Guma protecting the key in Parapa Palace or Midoro Palace, with the only difference gameplay-wise being the presence of Boos. Time limit: 60s.
NESR2 Remix2 15
  • Stage 15 (210 Stars): Set at the fight against Shadow Link, with Link having activated the Shield Spell and Shadow Linkstarts with only three hitpoints; the objective is to defeat Shadow Link, but there constantly is a clone of him, repeating all his moves with a little delay, serving as a graphical distraction. After winning, the animation of Link getting the Triforce is shown.
NESR2 Remix2 20-6
  • Stage 20 (240 Stars): Divided in 8 sections, Stage 20-6 is based on Zelda 2 and is set in an original cave room with no exit and three Octorocks and the objective is to stab all three in a row using the downthrust move. Time limit: 10s. Other sections of this stage are based respectively on Punch-Out!!, Metroid, Super Mario Bros. 3, Kirby's Adventure and Kid Icarus.

Additionally, Stage 1 and Stage 9, while based respectively on Super Mario Bros. 2 and Kid Icarus, they also feature elements from Zelda 2. This also creates undirect links between the series.

Bonus[]

The "Bonus" set includes 2 challenges based on Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, each one unlocked by obtaining a specific amount of stars:

NESR2 Bonus 10-2
  • Stage 10 (300 Stars): Divided in 4 sections, Stage 10-2 is set in a cave from Zelda 2 and the objective is to get across 12 lava pits, but the image and music are distorted. Time limit: 20s. Other sections are based on Super Mario Bros. 3 and Kirby's Adventure.
