Episode #8 of Nostalgia Critic is a review of the Super Mario Bros. movie.
He explains its flaws and especially criticises its lack of connections with the original story and Dennis Hopper's performance. The Critic shows clips from the movie in which Hopper says "Bob-omb!" and "Monkey!" and these are shown again for comedic effect in later episodes of the series.

Episode #40 of Nostalgia Critic is a review of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!.
For its Mario cartoons, he criticizes the inconsistent plots, mostly bad parodies of popular films, dialogue being heavy on Italian food puns, and cheap animation. He admits that the friday Zelda cartoon wasn't as bad, but he criticizes the depiction of Link and his catchphrase "Well, excuuuse me, princess!".

In episode #21 of Nostalgia Critic Editorial the Critic reviews the comic series Super Mario Adventures, discusses why he thinks that it is the best adaptation of the original video games. He praises the portrayal of the characters, each one with a defined personality, especially Peach. While talking about her, he briefly mentions the try from Nintendo in making a game about her, Super Princess Peach.
