Tingle
During the battle with the second main boss in the game, Captain Stalfos, the upper screen of the Nintendo DS shows both his and Tingle's portraits as well as their energy bars. This is exactly like in the arcade games Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!! and Tingle's portrait is even based on the player's boxer from those games, specifically his mouth, nose and chin are exactly the same.

The battle itself also may be a tribute to Punch-Out!! consisting in dodging the enemy's attacks by moving left and right, and then counter-attacking at the right time.
The same portrait of Tingle also appears in Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love while using the catapult.
