This page explains in detail the interactions between the Card Hero series and the Super Smash Bros. series.
Super Smash Bros. Melee[]
November 21, 2001
The card dealer from Trade & Battle: Card Hero, Maruo Maruhige appears as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and can be unlocked exclusively by obtaining it in the Lottery.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]
January 31, 2008
Super Smash Bros. Brawl features three Stickers from Trade & Battle: Card Hero, specifically the main protagonist Hiroshi, his rival Tameo, and a Master card.
Stickers can be used in Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary to boost specific stats of characters by applying them underneath the respective character's trophy stand. Being stickers within the Super Smash Bros. universe they create a Sub-universe link.
The stickers and their effect are specifically:
Name | Image | Effect in The Subspace Emissary |
---|---|---|
Hiroshi | Sticker Drops +17 | |
Master | Trophy Drops +30 | |
Tameo | [Explosive] - Attack +16 |
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]
December 7, 2018
This game features two Spirits from the Card Hero series: Maruhige Shop Owner and Satoru.
Similar to stickers in Brawl, Spirits are represented by artworks from the characters' original series, and are used to boost the fighters' stats, however this time Adventure Mode's introduction explains that spirits are characters who lost their bodies in Galeem's attack, creating an In-universe link between the two series: even if their representation is little, their appearance as spirits implies Maruo Maruhige and Satoru to exist and be real in the Super Smash Bros. universe.
Spirits are unlocked by beating the respective Spirit Battle, an augmented fight meant to reresent a battle against the character, which is explained in Adventure Mode's introduction to actually be a fight against a Puppet Fighter animated by the spirit. Alternatively they can be purchased from the in-game shop or obtained as random rewards.
Maruhige Shop Owner[]
Maruo Maruhige returns after being a trophy in Melee, but he's now based on his most recent appearance in Kousoku Card Battle: Card Hero. He's Spirit #1147, and he's a Support spirit classified in the Advanced category (★★). He takes one support slot and when equipped grants its user the Item Gravitation ability.
His Spirit Battle is a Stamina battle against Mario in his Builder outfit, taking place in the Pac-Land stage in Battlefield form.
The only items available are Assist Trophies and the enemy is easily distracted by items, simulating the gameplay from the Card Hero series, where characters would summon monsters using Monster Cards.
The background music is Welcome Center.
Satoru[]
The protagonist of Kousoku Card Battle: Card Hero appears as Spirit #1148. He's a Primary spirit, classified in the Grab type and Novice category (★). He has three Support slots available but no special effect.
His Spirit Battle is a fight against Shulk in his Black outfit taking place in Pokémon Stadium 2.
After a while he's joined by three minion fighters, simulating the monsters you can summon in the original game: Brown Mewtwo, Ridley in his Meta-Ridley outfit, and Black Bowser. The battle however is won when the main fighter (Shulk) is defeated.
Additionally the enemy's melee weapons have increased power and the player's move speed is decreased after a while.
The background music is Worthy Rival Battle, a battle theme from Culdcept Revolt, another card-based game.
