While officially being considered an original item, the Motion-Sensor Bomb's design in this game is based on the Proximity Mine from the game GoldenEye 007, also sharing its original Japanese name. Its function is also the same, since it can be put on surfaces and it explodes when a fighter comes near it.

SSBM Trophy MotionSensorBomb

The Motion-Sensor Bomb returns in Melee, and while the Japanese release changes it to the version from Perfect Dark, all western releases retain its appearance from GoldenEye 007. The bomb in these versions is only slightly reshaped, actually resembling the James Bond one even more accurately, and the PAL version of the game also changes the name to Proximity Mine, matching the english localizations of GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark.
Its trophy keeps references to 007 vague, only mentioning it being "a favorite covert weapon of spies and other stealthy operatives", and listing its game of origin as "TOP SECRET".
The item returns in later Super Smash Bros. games, but it receives completely original designs, losing any tie to James Bond.

According to producer Masahiro Sakurai, James Bond himself was at one point considered to be included in the roster of the game, but he was scrapped because of concerns over his realistic weaponry, as well as possible licensing issues. It's unknown how seriously this was ever considered.

License[]

Nintendo owns no right over James Bond, or elements from Rare's GoldenEye 007 game, but they only included minor references in Super Smash Bros. games.
